Description
On a magical, September morning, Charlie and Seán woke for the very first time in their new beds, in their new home, to the sounds of birds loudly singing. The warm sunshine beamed through the blinds of the window in the bedroom they shared.
Seán opened his sleepy, little eyes and looked around the room. For a second, he didn’t remember where he was. As soon as he realised, excitement charged through his body. Seán picked up the Minion toy lying beside him, then launched it across the room at his unsuspecting brother, who was sound asleep.
Startled, Charlie jumped up in the bed, his heart pounding from the fright.
“What the heck, Seán!” he shouted at his brother. “You nearly gave me a heart attack!”
Seán was laughing uncontrollably at poor Charlie’s face.
“Have you forgotten where we are, Charlie?” exclaimed Seán. “We’re in our new house!”
Charlie’s frown immediately turned upside down as both boys sprung out of their beds and flew over to the window. Charlie pulled down on a cord and the blinds rolled up with a click and a clack. Both boys stared out at their new garden and familiarised themselves with their new surroundings. The lush, green garden appeared to go on forever, seeming enormous to their youthful eyes.
Giant trees lined each side of the lawn, as far as their eyes could see.
“We have a secret garden, Charlie”, said Seán. “It looks like nobody can come in, and nobody can get out” he smiled with excitement.
