Description
How often have you been to a funeral by where someone says of the deceased, “Someone should have recorded that man/woman? He/she had a power of stories and a very interesting life.” Too often, I suspect. We enjoy the stories but ignore the teller – until it is too late. With this collection of narratives, Pauline Bermingham Scully has done a wonderful service to the Parish of Ardrahan and, indeed, the world beyond that parish by painstakingly seeking out, listening to and recording the life stories, memories and work experiences of an older generation. Most of her contributors have since died but they live on in these pages. Their stories are preserved for the study and the entertainment of generations to come.
